Our Vets

Dr Matt Wilson MA Vet MRCVS

Matt grew up in James Herriot country, rural Yorkshire and was inspired by reading his veterinary novels as a young child. Gowing up with cats, dogs and horses sparked a real passion for veterinary medicine. After graduating from Cambridge University in 1991 and spending two years at a mixed practice in Cambridgeshire, I decided to specialise in a small animal practice where I felt I could give the best care, joining the Young Vets team in 1993.

I have two cats which I adopted from the surgery after they came in as strays, Louis, my loyal lovable tabby cat and Mitten, she has a feisty temperament hidden beneath her beauty. She likes to keep both my family and the surgery staff on their toes when she comes to stay!

I have a dedicated interest in all aspects of surgery, including bone and joint surgery (orthopaedics) and regularly perform more complex surgeries such as TTA cruciate (knee) surgeries. My goal with every patient visit is to provide a knowledgeable, friendly and trustworthy service, and to ensure that every pet gets the caring treatment (and treats where appropriate!) they deserve.

Dr Nicky Purser MRCVS

"Nicky graduated from The University of Melbourne in 2012 and worked for 5 years in Australia before relocating to the UK. She has worked all over the UK, from Newcastle to Cornwall, before finally settling in London. She has always had a passion for animals and attempted to save every helpless or injured animal that came her way as a child. It seemed inevitable that she would end up in this profession. That may explain the 5 cats her family own back in Australia, ranging from a three-legged Ragdoll to a Maine Coon with deformed elbows.

Nicky's passions in the veterinary industry includes Small Animal Surgery, and she hopes to complete an Advanced Certificate in this area to hone her skills. She also loves facilitating the bond between owner and pet, and takes great satisfaction in developing good rapport with clients and their furbabies. One of the highlights of her career will always be delivering multiple puppies and kittens by caesarean section when she worked for a busy breeding clinic in Australia. During one such procedure, Nicky was delivering puppies by caesarean and she realised part way through the surgery that she had, in fact, delivered the mother by caesarean a few years earlier - that was magical."

Dr Clara Blanco DVM MRCVS

I am a dedicated veterinarian who graduated from Madrid in 2016. Throughout my academic journey, I realised that surgery was my true calling and I am currently in my final stages of completing a comprehensive surgical certificate program. This additional qualification allows me to bring an advanced level of expertise to the operating room.

Outside of work, I enjoy scuba diving and making culinary creations in the kitchen!

Throughout my years of study and veterinary medicine I have experienced many unforgettable moments including being bitten by a seal, peed on by a lion and being headbutted by a goat – reminding me of the unpredictability and wonder of the animal kingdom!

Dr Helen Kay Pike MRCVS

I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College and I started work at a small animal practice in Kent. I am thrilled to have joined Young’s where I have found the team and clients to be extremely welcoming.

I have had a lifelong passion to join the veterinary industry, ever since trying to resuscitate an emu that my friend was hand rearing.

I grew up in a small village in Kent but spent a number of years in the USA.

Over the years I’ve had a menagerie of pets – A poodle, a Maltese who’s personality was much bigger than he was! A pygmy hedgehog, tortoises and an ex racehorse, Bridget.

I strive to make every animals experience at the practice as stress free as possible.

In my spare time I enjoy walking and spending time with friends and family.

Dr Elan Daniels MRCVS

graduated from Cambridge University in 2022 and working with Young’s is one of my first jobs. I grew up in rural Wales and have had a variety of different pets from chickens, rabbits, koi to our most recent addition -a Cockapoo, who is certainly the boss of the household! I love the variety that being a vet offers which means there’s never a dull moment! In my spare time I am a keen runner and also enjoy travelling to new countries.

Dr Marta Stawska MRCVS

After completing my high school education in Poland I embarked on the solo journey to the UK to study veterinary medicine. I graduated in 2022 from the University of Surrey and then landed my first job at Youngs! I have a keen interest and not so secret, soft spot for all things feline! This recently led me to the adoption of Frances, a super cute young cat. She was left in her carrier with 3 kittens on the door step of one of our practices. Following the adoption of her kittens I just couldn't resist taking her home where she has quickly settled in.

As a new graduate I'm still discovering my further interests within the field, but I've hugely enjoyed the surgical part of my job so far and I am keen to develop my skills further in this area. Outside of work I enjoy travelling and attending various music events.

Dr Lauren Sullivan MA VetMB MRCVS

This is my first job following graduation from Cambridge University. I've always had a love of animals, from my own pets to working in a farm park when I was younger. A combination of this, alongside the excitement of every day being different I decided to enter the veterinary industry. I want to work together to provide the best care and support to all the pets and owners that enter through our surgeries. Outside of work I enjoy long walks with my family and my dog, along with trips to the pub with my friends, I also enjoy playing netball in my spare time.

Dr Sophie Crossfield MRCVS

Following my graduation from the Royal Veterinary College in 2020, I went on to work at a small animal practice in East Sussex. Now, after relocating to West London, I have found myself at Young’s!

Growing up I had a variety of pets, from small mammals to horses! From a young age I had my sights set on becoming a vet, after experiencing my own pets requiring various veterinary treatment and feeling in awe of the vets providing their care.

I am enjoying all aspects of general practice currently, and particularly enjoy seeing our feline companions, making their experiences with us as calm & stress-free as possible. In the future I would like to undertake a certificate as to further my knowledge and experience in certain areas of practice, however for now I am enjoying everything equally.

In my free time I enjoy spending time outside, either walking or running, as well as cooking and baking for friends and family!

Thank you so much for being a wonderful surgery – the whole team has been great and are now highly recommended by us!! Many thanks again.
